Acorn Pass
A focused first pass through Blue Oak Mastering.
The Acorn Pass is designed for mixes that are already in a strong place and are a good fit for a more simplified mastering process. It concentrates on the main qualities that help a finished mix translate as a finished record: level, tonal balance, presence, clarity and final limiting.
Each Acorn Pass is a finished digital master and can be released as-is. To keep the process focused, Acorn projects should to be ready after the initial work, with revisions kept to a minimum.
An Acorn Pass can also be the starting point for a full Blue Oak master. The same mix can come back later to go through the complete mastering process, building from the work already done, with the original Acorn cost credited toward the full master.
